This book is based on in-depth interviews with policy makers (which include current and past federal and state lawmakers, ministers, and special advisers to the government) and archival materials collected in Nigeria. The focus was to collect historical data (based on the participants’ lived experiences) on the impact and influence of policy making – as a practice – on decisions regarding energy supply infrastructure provisions
Development
The idea for writing this book came as a result of a challenge from a group of friends about the need to document Nigeria’s energy transition dynamics and history from the perspective of a Nigerian who have experienced some of the issues. This book is the first documented monograph on Nigeria’s energy transition. How do we understand the motives and influences underlying changes in energy infrastructure demand and supply within the Nigerian context? This book presents and questions the Nigerian energy governance structure within the electricity sub-sector by investigating the linkages between policy making and electricity infrastructure provision.
